Congratulations to CMC BC Regional Advisory Council Chair George Laverock on receiving a BC Community Achievement Award and the inaugural 2017 Mitchell Leadership Award!
Laverock was cited for a vision of Vancouver as a creative centre for world-class music that has driven a remarkable commitment to community involvement: “George has made a lasting difference through his accomplishments in public broadcasting, arts administration and non-profit governance while mentoring the next generation of musicians. His volunteer involvement with the Vancouver Chamber Choir and the Canadian Music Centre, to name a few, along with countless hours on numerous boards, has created a legacy for musical arts and culture in British Columbia” said Scott McIntyre, CM, Foundation Chair, who hosted the presentation ceremony.
The BC Community Achievement Awards recognize and celebrate “the spirit, imagination, dedication and contribution of leading British Columbians to their communities.”
The Honourable Judith Guichon, OBC, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia along with BC Achievement Foundation Board members, Robert Louie, OC and Christopher Gaze, OBC presented each recipient with a BC Community Achievement Award certificate, medallion and citation.
