CMC BC Award of Excellence

The Canadian Music Centre in BC recognizes the extraordinary contributions to Canadian music throughout the province with its Award of Excellence program. Recipients of the award are:

Victoria Symphony

Awarded on February 4, 2017
Presented to Tania Miller, Music Director 

“Music Director Tania Miller has been a pioneer nationally in championing Canadian music and composers. Under her leadership, the Victoria Symphony was the first orchestra in BC to launch a New Music Festival, more than a decade ago in 2005.”

Presented to Bramwell Tovey, Music Director 

“The Grammy Award-winning VSO has been a world leader in commissioning, performing, and recording Canadian music for decades now. The symphony has commissioned an astounding 77 new works since the year 2000.”
